LTBLI wrapped up 2025 with site visits in sunny Uganda! Associate Director Hannah Schulman traveled alongside our dedicated local partner, Solar Health Uganda, for two impactful weeks filled with solar light distributions, connections with program participants, meetings with community leaders, and hands-on impact assessments.

- Distributing solar to a community elder
- Solar smiles from new moms with their new solar lights
A highlight of the visit was distributing solar lights to two communities, including one perched high along Butandiga Ridge in the stunning Elgon Mountain Range. On the Butandiga Ridge, the terrain makes it a great place for coffee farming but a difficult place to travel and attend schools or reach services like health clinics. During our day in Butandiga, our team heard countless times that the solar lights would provide increased safety, opportunity, and peace of mind.

Throughout the visit, our team visited the homes of more than 40 solar light recipients and families. We listened to their stories and saw firsthand how clean energy is shaping their daily lives and lighting their hopes for their futures. We also visited five off-grid health clinics supported through our Safe Births + Healthy Homes program, where solar power is keeping maternity wards bright, equipment running, and care available around the clock.
